As we prepare for Belize 2020, enjoy this look back by Kelly Milam who participated in our last trip with her daughter Bryleigh!
Thank you for your support! This is what our week in Belize looked like, I have also included prayer needs from our time in Belize!
We spent Sunday gathering children in the village of Hopkins to hold an impromptu worship service. The kids loved singing the praise songs Kids Konnect 4 Jesus has taught them. There is no church in the village, so these gatherings with KK4J are their only opportunities to worship together. Please pray that God will raise up a preacher in Hopkins.
Monday through Thursday we spent our days leading an elementary school through an Armor of God camp — like a VBS. Some members of our group led stations such as painting, drama, craft and dance. Others led classes of children to each station and led a Victory Verse station. During Victory Verse we practiced the theme verse. “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:11. We also explained the pieces of God’s armor. During a small group time, I learned that many girls in my group have experienced much loss in their short lives. I also got a better understanding of their faith.
They have Biblical knowledge, but they don’t know Jesus. They know of Him, but they don’t know Him. Please pray that they will see their need for a Savior and the relationship He desires with every man, woman and child.
We attended the elementary school’s End of the Year award ceremony on Wednesday evening. Thursday evening the children presented their drama, dance and verse to their community, using the props they made at the craft and paint stations. Another evening we traveled to Sittee River village to scope out a school for our church to consider a long-term relationship with. Please pray for clear direction in that regard.
Friday was our “Day of Reflection.” We all took a boat ride to a beautiful island. We had the opportunity to relax and explore activities like snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding. Best of all Bryleigh was baptized right there in the Caribbean Sea! Praise the Lord!
We had an amazing week and we immediately started hoping for an opportunity to return. Please pray that God will continue this work He started in our hearts and the hearts we are forever knit together with in Belize.
